What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a therapist who has moved through mental health challenges herself, I understand the vulnerability and courage it takes to ask for help, and I also understand the strength it takes to go after and actually get that help.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Jill Gravois is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of experience in the social work and mental health fields. She is passionate about helping individuals meet their personal goals and create a life for themselves that is motivated by self-love and total well-being. She enjoys partnering with people who are motivated toward self-awareness, self-actualization, and thriving in a world that is often plagued by compulsive unhealthy behavior and feelings of fatigue and hopelessness. She also enjoys working with individuals who are transitioning from various kinds of loss and views losses as opportunities for growth and positive change. Jill completed her Master of Social Work at California State University, Long Beach. She is a woman who enjoys exploring the deeper side of life and who can laugh easily. She often says, "It's somehow all about balance or moving toward a new balance." These characteristics, combined with her professional experience, enable her to provide the support and guidance that her clients are seeking. Jill uses multiple treatment approaches including mindfulness, eye-movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and somatic treatment. Life can be so challenging. Jill can be there with you along the tougher parts of the journey and confidently support you. She can share with you new perspectives and techniques that will allow you to reduce unnecessary suffering and cope better with challenges. If you're ready to do the work, schedule an appointment with her today!
