What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I'm here to listen, support you, offer compassion, and express concern when appropriate in an effort to help you become a more effective communicator, partner and/or parent, and bring lasting hope and joy into your life.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Jill Lamar is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. Jill s specialties include helping clients with anxiety, depression, grief, couples therapy, and working with adolescents and clients in their 20s, adjusting to the challenges of life and the changes they bring, as well as perceived academic or vocational underperformance. Jill treats survivors of abuse of all kinds, as well as those who struggle with addictions and other compulsive behaviors, and (in conjunction with a medical professional) dual-diagnosis conditions. She has a history of faith-based counseling but exercises unconditional positive regard for those who don't share her perspective, and has proven successful in their treatment. Jill completed her Bachelor's degree in Economics at Arizona State University and received her Master's degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. She draws on the wisdom of her life experience (30 years in corporate life), a drive to discover helpful truths in each client s story, and a passionate desire to see what feels broken or hurtful healed in her clients' lives so they can return to more joyful, productive living.
