What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I am passionate about helping people understand their behaviors and emotions and empowering them to make sustainable changes.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Joi Rowe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with just over 6 years of experience helping adults cope with depression, anxiety, grief, health/medical concerns, aging, major life transitions, and trauma. Joi has a strong background in geriatrics (particularly death and dying, adjustment issues, and grief) but has worked with individuals of all ages throughout her career. Joi received her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University. Joi believes that each patient is unique and utilizes a patient-centered approach to work collaboratively with clients to help them reach their goals. Joi utilizes a combination of treatment approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy in an eclectic approach to meet patient needs. Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming. Joi will strive to provide a safe, nonjudgemental space. Together you'll explore the root of your distress and develop a plan to improve your life.
