What does a first session with you look like?

My primary goal is to ensure that therapy with me is a good experience for you. It may be hard, uncomfortable and heavy at times, but I will never leave you feeling worse after a session than where we began. Rapport is extremely important to me, and I will strive to find a pace and style that works for you. I bring my whole, authentic self to therapy, and I ask that you do the same. I believe that we all want to, and have the capacity, to heal. I look at my job as guiding you through that natural process, clearing out any obstacles that may stand in your way. We all accumulate healthy and unhealthy defenses through our lifetime, I will help you let go of the defenses that no longer serve you.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I use a mix of strategies to help you leave therapy with a better and deeper understanding of yourself. For one, I try to work in the here and now as much as possible, digging deeper into the emotions and thoughts that are present in the therapy room. My goal is to help you get a fuller experience of what is happening for you: getting out of your head and into your body. I also have a focus on attachment theory, and will work with you on making sure all of the relationships in your life are where you want them to be. We can work on addressing conflict, assertiveness, openness, and feeling secure in your attachments.
