What does a first session with you look like?
Whether it is your first time in therapy, or you are giving it another try, it can be an uneasy experience sharing with a stranger. Your first session with me will be different from future visits. The initial visit is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to gauge your comfort level in working with me. Future visits will be focused on helping you to develop goals and gaining the insight and tools to accomplish them. Sessions are either 30 or 45 minutes long and occur at a frequency that meets your needs.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am a licensed clinician with nearly twenty years of experience in practicing Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapies. As such, my approach is to form a therapeutic relationship with each person I see, taking special care to note any patterns in a person's history or in the present that may be holding them back or causing unnecessary pain, conflict or suffering. Together, we can discover how the past is informing the present and gain the insight needed to develop and maintain healthy relationships, behaviors and feelings.
