Under Clinical Supervision

Kadija Barrie, Resident, 123 is practicing under the supervision of Andrew Coyle (Pennsylvania, LPC, PC012348) at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Media.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As an immigrant from West Africa, I have endured a lot of trauma. My goal is to reach the immigrant population who are less likely to seek mental health treatment because they lack trust and believe professional mental health treatment is non existent.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Kadija Barrie is a Resident in Counseling who has worked with adolescents, adults, and older adults dealing with problems like trauma, substance abuse, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. She has 13 years of experience in the mental health field and is committed to equipping her clients with coping strategies for managing their everyday life stressors. Kadija received her Master in Clinical Counseling from Rosemont College. She meets her clients where they are in their healing process and uses active listening skills while providing positive affirmations to best support her clients. She also assists them with setting realistic goals by coaching and allowing them to self-reflect on their presenting problem(s). As an immigrant from West Africa, Kadija has endured a lot of trauma and is very aware of different cultural backgrounds; therefore, she has the ability to transition from one perspective to another while building a strong connection with you. She is driven to reach the immigrant population, which is less likely to seek mental health treatment due to their lack of trust and a deep-seated belief that professional mental health treatment is non-existent.
