What does a first session with you look like?

When you come to work with me, I will help you dive into the thoughts and feelings that are weighing you down. We tackle the deep issues of the past and present that are causing you distress and overwhelm. We will look at your family history, daily patterns, past trauma and more. My approach is gentle, deeply compassionate, and authentic with a splash of humor thrown in at just the right time. My clients know me as a therapist who makes them “feel felt.” I’m a natural problem solver with creative ideas and solutions for your unique situation. I provide a level of depth and curiosity that helps bring hidden thoughts, feelings, and patterns to light. This will help you experience greater clarity and insight.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a Registered Play Therapist, which means that I have extensive training & experience in working with children, teens and youth mental health. I use both talk therapy and expressive arts therapies when working with adults and kids/teens. This allows us to tap into both the right and the left side of the brain. I use several "get to know yourself better" tools which give you greater insight into yourself, which will allow you to better manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. My clients tell me that I help them think about things in new ways that they had not thought about previously. They often report feeling hopeful and better able to manage their thoughts and feelings. I hear a lot of “that makes so much sense."
