What does a first session with you look like?
Beginning therapy can be intimidating, so I like to spend the first session with new clients getting to know each other. I introduce myself and share with the client what therapy with my might be like, making sure that they feel like we will be a good fit. From there, I work together with my client to create their therapy goals and determine which modality might be most supportive in reaching those goals. I work to empower my client's natural strengths and cultivate new ones to help address trauma, depression, anxiety, or any other source of pain.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am passionate about using evidence based practices because I want to offer my clients the best possible chance to experience growth and healing. In trauma-specific modalities, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and certified in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I also utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Play Therapy, and Mindfulness Therapy.
