What does a first session with you look like?
During the Initial Assessment, the client communicate the thoughts, feeling and issues that caused concern and may have altered their lives. I identify the symptoms that are disclosed, which help to identify a diagnosis and develop a plan of treatment. I begin learning about the client: traumatic events, illnesses, treatment, fears, addictions, successes, failures, family, education - as much as possible and build on this knowledge over the therapeutic relationship. I then recommend appropriate to restore mental and emotional health. Follow up visits last for a shorter period as we continue building the foundation and perfect the treatment course.+
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Nurse Practitioners primarily use medication and include small amounts of therapy. We may also use assessments scales to determine the frequency and intensity of symptoms.
