What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. Compassion, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude has enabled me to understand and help others in need.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Kavitha Tatineni is a Nurse Practitioner with a doctoral degree from Old Dominion University. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner as well as a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has been taking care of patients for more than 10 years. She has worked in many different capacities as a mental health provider including working with adults, children, and families across the lifespan. She is highly experienced in medication management and treatment for depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, as well as a variety of individual mental health disorders. She believes medication along with other treatment therapies is highly effective. Her goal is to provide holistic, compassionate, and patient-centered care to patients in need of psychiatric evaluation and treatment. She specializes in the medical management of a wide variety of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions. Providing culturally sensitive care with a diverse knowledge base has been her strength. She has the ability to make patients feel comfortable sharing their feelings. This has enabled her to build rapport with patients and their families. In addition to medication management, she incorporates motivational interviewing, and person-centered techniques into treatment and cognitive behavioral therapy. She has also spent time in academia as an adjunct Clinical Educator. She also enjoys being a preceptor for nurse practitioner students who are on their journey to becoming healthcare professionals. Holistic care is the key to good health. Addressing the biopsychosocial needs of a client is pivotal for a positive change in their health outcomes. It is difficult to go through the challenges of life alone. But with confidence, hope, faith, and compassion this journey can be improved through new perspectives and techniques.
