What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a person who has experienced both anxiety and depression, I understand the associated issues that can make life difficult.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Kelly V. Tatsch is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has worked with a wide range of individuals, including parents, children, families, individuals, military, civilian, and seniors. She has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Kelly completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics at Tarleton State University and her Master of Science (MS) in Counseling Psychology at Tarleton State University. For Kelly, each client begins as an unknown individual that she will work with to develop a trusting, caring relationship, which is necessary for the client to relate their needs and goals. Many individuals begin the first session with a sense of concern that they do not know what to expect. In order to help clients achieve their goals, Kelly reassures them that they will just begin with a casual conversation and continue from there. Kelly s best tool for therapy is her ability to listen without judgment. She lets her clients know that she sees everyone as just a person, which helps begin the trusting process. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of her preferred methods which she explains using words, diagrams, and basic knowledge of human development. Everyone deserves to have help when needed. A client who reaches out for help can expect to find a life that is once again in a good place. And also they may find that the new tools they learn will help them avoid the same issues again. Learning to contemplate your situation and learning new tools are two ways to move forward in life.
