What does a first session with you look like?
After our first session of getting acquainted and establishing your goals for treatment, we will start delving deeper into your areas of concern and take a hands-on approach to resolve them. Since we only see each other for 1 hour out of the week, I believe 90 percent of the work in counseling happens outside of the office. I will help you break down your goals into sizeable chunks and provide you with the tools necessary to facilitate positive change.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use a combination of tools from evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. These tools include a mixture of learning how to accept the thoughts, feelings, and challenges that arise, examining and challenging negative beliefs about ourselves and our circumstances that hold us back, and finding practical solutions for the issues we face.
