What does a first session with you look like?

In our first session I my goal is to get to know you as a person. Your life (including your childhood), where you come from, your medical and mental health history, and most importantly your goals for wanting to meet with me. Our first session may or may not end in medication prescribing! Instead, you may choose to pursue a holistic approach to treatment, or wish to take time to think through what we have spoken about before you decide if a medication (if needed) is right for you. And that is ok!

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I provide medication management services using evidence-informed medical diagnoses and recommendations, according to current psychiatric standards of practice, ordering and interpreting laboratory studies, other tests/procedures, consulting/collaborating with and referring to other medical and behavioral health specialists, as indicated. Therapy: I am not formally trained in any specific psychotherapy modality or theoretical approach to counseling; however, I provide supportive therapy in the interest of therapeutic communication, emotional processing, lifestyle education and acute management of decompensation in so far as it is appropriate to do so in the outpatient setting. My approach to supportive therapy draws upon principals of attachment, trauma, mindfulness, MI, and nutrition.
