Under Clinical Supervision

Kerrin Messina, Resident, 123 is practicing under the supervision of Bridgette Masse (Massachusetts, LICSW, 124089) at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Waltham.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Kerrin Messina is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) with 5 years of experience working with individuals that have faced depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, chronic illness, grief/loss, substance use, unemployment, trauma, and adjustments that come with life. She is passionate about helping individuals struggling with self-esteem, end-of-life care, and finding that strength within. Kerrin is currently working on obtaining her independent licensure in the state of Massachusetts. Kerrin received her Master's degree in Social Work from Boise State University. Her approach to helping others is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but instead, she works with clients to find out what works best for them. Some of these approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment Therapy (ACT). While receiving treatment from Kerrin, you can expect to be invited into a warm, nonjudgmental environment that allows you to feel heard and understood, while creating space for change. Kerrin believes in the idea that everyone already has within them what it takes to live fulfilled, meaningful lives. She is here to help you connect to that inner potential and find your shine. If you are ready to create sustainable and positive life changes schedule an appointment with her today.
