As we encounter life challenges, there are varying degrees of acceptance and different stages of change. I make a point to understand the therapeutic goals that the client would like to define as well as their level of motivation to achieve those goals. Many folks seek out therapy for a specific challenge that they are struggling with. When a client wants to focus on a specified issue, then we'll work together on a plan to expeditiously resolve the issue of concern. If a client is seeking to explore underlying symptoms that may be rooted in more complex behavioral health struggles, we'll define goals that will allow the flexibility to explore the source issues and to structure/fortify the client's well being.
