My first goal with clients is to seek to understand. I want to learn as much about your thoughts, responses, and strengths as to know how to develop a tailored approach for our work together. In therapy, we will discuss skills to include in your toolbox to take with you after the session ends. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive and solutions-oriented work as well as mindfulness and body awareness. Clients should expect to feel validated and encouraged. Each session will close with an area of focus or commitment for personal work between sessions.
I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness integration. During our time together, we will explore patterns in thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. We discuss how to calm the nervous system to manage difficult thoughts and stressful events. During each session, my clients are encouraged to commit to one action or area of focus/reflection so that personal growth continues between sessions.
