What does a first session with you look like?
It is always important that you come away from sessions feeling heard, understood, respected, and challenged. I have found that practice outside of sessions is a vital part of building skills and new patterns. Often, that means together we will develop action steps that you can take between sessions to build on our discussions.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
In my experience, the most important treatment tool is the relationship between therapist and participant. Building upon a deep understanding of your interests, skills, strengths, and background, our work together will incorporate many approaches or methods. However, I have found that cognitive behavioral therapy techniques are very successful for a wide variety of people and I refer to these tools quite often.
