Professional Background
LicensureCalifornia, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, 99074
Work HistoryAt Newport Academy, academic and life skills education is an integral part of the treatment experience. Our licensed and highly trained teachers and tutors work closely with students, parents, and their current school to create a customized academic plan informed by a combination of psychoeducational test results, current transcripts, and state curriculum standards. Clients earn credits and improve their study skills and motivation, sometimes for the first time, while receiving the comprehensive treatment they need to heal. Our strengths-based approach to education recognizes that learning, like every other aspect of a young person’s experience, is inextricably intertwined with their self-esteem, well-being, and sense of empowerment. As teens progress in treatment, we see their academic engagement and motivation improve along with their mental health measures. Our goal is to ensure that our clients are set up for success when they return to their home school, with the tools they need to thrive in the academic environment.
