What does a first session with you look like?

I like to incorporate problem solving approach to help clients overcome issues that do not allow them to have a fulfilling life. I focus on mindfulness and being aware, learning to focus on the present and becoming their best self. During the time of my experience, I have come across themes with my clients who suffered from any type of abuse and how difficult it is for them to feel safe and understood. I learned to give them time and allow them to speak when they are ready, share what and when they wish to, and feel supported and validated. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I have worked with clients who suffered from depression, stress, anxiety, grief, behavioral problems, trauma, OCD, PTSD, domestic violence/abuse and clients who just wanted to talk about their daily and/or relationship struggles. Approaches I use for my clients are humanistic client centered counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based counseling, narrative therapy. I start by a biopsychosocial assessment in order to understand the client fully. Working with the client together to come up with the best approach that makes the client comfortable and safe and will produce the best outcome. I use approaches that are appropriate for each specific client with no limitation on one single approach. I use supportive therapy with active listening.
