Education

Northern Illinois University, Associate of Applied Arts, Applied Family and Child Studies with Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, 2009

My degree in Applied Family and Child Studies, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, provided in-depth training in how individuals grow and relate within the context of families and close relationships. Through this program, I gained expertise in family systems, child development, attachment theory, and culturally responsive care. I focused my studies on improving communication and emotional connection in couples and family units, and completed clinical training centered on supporting diverse families through conflict, trauma, and life transitions. This background has strengthened my ability to help clients build healthier relationships, understand generational patterns, and create meaningful change within their families and themselves.

Work History

My journey as a therapist has been rooted in helping individuals, couples, and families build stronger, healthier relationships. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of clinical settings, which has allowed me to support people through a wide range of challenges—from relationship struggles and life transitions to trauma, anxiety, and family conflict. In my work as a Marriage and Family Therapist at Heart and Mind Wellness, Positive Transformations, and Lighthouse Counseling Services, I’ve provided compassionate care to couples and families looking to improve communication, navigate conflict, and rebuild trust. These experiences deepened my ability to support relationships with care, structure, and emotional insight. Earlier in my career, I served as a Youth and Family Therapist and Program Coordinator, where I worked closely with teens and parents facing emotional and behavioral challenges. I’ve also had the privilege of serving as a Clinical Director, supporting other clinicians and overseeing youth-focused programs that offer early intervention, school-based support, and family therapy. My early roots in the field began with hands-on experiences as a graduate intern therapist, youth program coordinator, and volunteer supervisor—roles that gave me a strong foundation in community engagement and trauma-informed care. These experiences taught me how to meet people where they are, listen deeply, and respond with empathy and evidence-based support. Today, I continue to integrate all of these experiences to create a safe, collaborative, and affirming space for those I work with. I believe healing and growth are possible for every individual and relationship—and I’m here to help you take that next step.
