What is your style/approach to therapy?
I have completed specialty training in trauma/grief therapy modalities, suicide prevention, first responder mental health, and victim services. In 2021 I completed the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation’s Individual and Group Crisis Intervention Courses and in 2019 became a Certified Clinical Supervisor in the state of South Carolina. I was also awarded the Mount Pleasant Police Department Community Service Award and named their Civilian of the Quarter for quarter 3 of 2021 – both of which were based on community outreach efforts to reduce domestic violence in collaboration with the victim advocate team. I am also currently working towards my EMDR certification and regularly attend conferences/trainings focusing on first responder mental health.
What does a first session with you look like?
My overall philosophy of therapy is to do no harm and to help push my clients to reach their goals. Progress cannot be achieved through one therapy session every 2-3 weeks, thus I expect my clients to do work between sessions to practice the concepts we discuss. Sometimes this is in the form of a traditional written "homework" assignment, reviewing a concept with their support system, or just dedicating 15 minutes a day to themselves. I will work with you to help you find better balance and healthier relationships throughout your life.
