My style of therapy is goal driven and focused on symptom reduction. I teach client's practical tools and techniques very early in the therapy process, to help reduce their emotional distress. Most of my client's reports a sense of relief after our first session because they leave with an understanding of why they are experiencing the symptoms that they are, and how we can work together to get them feeling better!
The approach I use is specific to the client and what the presenting issues are. For most of my clients, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help to manage the catastrophic and self-doubting thoughts that come with anxiety and depression. I also utilize a Paradox approach for people with anxiety and panic attacks. This method is very effective in decreasing the "fear of the fear", which tends to keep people stuck ithe anxiety cycle. Psychodynamic approaches are also used to help clients gain insight of themselves and break dysfunctional patterns.
