What does a first session with you look like?
The first session gives us time to get to know each other and decide if we're a good fit. I start by asking what difficulty brings you here today. I want to hear your story. It's the first step in helping me understand you. I want you to ask me questions. You are the expert on you. It's like you are the captain of the ship and I'm the navigator. My job is to provide a compass for the journey.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients understand the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behavior. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing to treat trauma. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples It's a mode of treatment that focuses on the negative communication pattern that hijacks communication and causes partners to feel alone. For grief and loss, I am certified by the American Association of Death Education and Counseling.
