What does a first session with you look like?
The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. What is your style/approach to therapy?
I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I am an empathic, compassionate, caring mental health professional who is dedicated to helping others reach their fullest potential and improve their psychological well-being.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
Louis D'Amora is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. He is compassionate, empathic, understanding, diligent, and caring. He has worked with a variety of populations from children to elders and those in between. He is passionate about assisting others in reaching their goals, aspirations, and their fullest potential in life. He is adept at finding the strengths in others and building upon them. He specializes in mood disorders (anxiety and depression), men's health issues, relationship issues, trauma, and coping with major life transitions. Louis D'Amora has completed both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health and a Master of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. He has worked for a Therapeutic Foster Care Program in CT for approximately 15 years with youth and young adults and he has worked in a variety of nursing homes settings/rehabilitation medical settings throughout the state of CT. Louis utilizes existential therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectal behavioral therapy (DBT) talk therapy, solution-focused therapy, and client-centered therapy in his philosophical approach to treating others. Louis is very personable, down to earth, non-judgmental, and easy to establish rapport with. The journey of life is filled with a plethora of developmental, social, environmental, emotional, and psychological challenges which each of us faces in a unique manner. Louis is motivated, competent, and dedicated to assisting you to cope with these challenges which life presents. He hopes to be a positive asset to your development and in overcoming those pertinent challenges you face in life.
