What does a first session with you look like?
You should expect a healthy and therapeutic environment that is sympathetic, understanding and safe. My role is to provide insight into what I am observing, counsel on possible ways to handle the issues that you are facing, and effective techniques that have been shown to be beneficial in treating the root cause of the issues. All our sessions will be safe, open, and supportive for healing and growth to occur. As the sessions develop you will begin to utilize the coping skills and lifestyle changes in your life so that you will be able to apply these skills independently.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I do like to employ an eclectic approach to therapy so that each individual can feel like they have been heard and their treatment goals can be individually focused on meeting your individual needs. I have found that mindfulness techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy do appear to be very effective in treating a vast array of issues.
