The 1st session will consist of introductions. We'll also discuss what you're looking for and other information that is on your intake form. Additionally, we'll discuss treatment plans and your treatment goals (what you want to get out of therapy).

I specifically do short-term therapy, using evidence-based practices (EBPs), which means that these therapy methods are backed by a lot of research and are proven to be quite effective. More specifically, I routinely use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)--a 12 session treatment program which addresses what I call "Stinkin' Thinkin'," which is the negative thinking that keeps popping up and holding a person back. I also frequently use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which addresses anger management, stress management, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. I have other methods I use, as well, but these are the ones I use most often. Another type of therapy that I use is Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy--couples therapy for those couples where one of the couple has PTSD.
