What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I work with individuals that are experiencing challenges, whether it be from the struggles of everyday life or unexpected obstacles.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Marcelle Abusalbi is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. She is passionate about helping adolescents and adults address both past and present challenges. Marcelle specializes in anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD, PTSD, and trauma. Marcelle completed her Master of Arts in Counseling at St. Edward s University. Her approach is based on cognitive behavioral therapy, which ties emotions and behaviors to specific "automatic thoughts." These thoughts can be subconscious, and are learned over time from our experiences. A key to counseling is uncovering these cognitive distortions, recognizing how they affect our reactions, and replacing them with more adaptive ones. Recognizing that seeking therapy can be intimidating, Marcelle uses a warm and inviting approach, believing above all in creating a safe and non-judgmental space. Her approach is relaxed and supportive, and her goal is to work with clients to develop self-awareness and build coping skills.
