What does a first session with you look like?
I take a no-nonsense, practical approach to therapy that is individually tailored to your unique strengths and values. After a few months working together, you'll be amazed at your ability to set boundaries, say "no" to situations that drain you, and identify the manipulative communication patterns of unhealthy people. As a result, you will have more time for the people who truly care about you and the goals that you've dreamed about for years.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we will identify your deepest values. Through Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy combined with Somatic Therapy and Mindfulness, we will connect your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, identify thoughts and behaviors that are not serving you, and identify more effective ways of thinking and acting in difficult situations. Through Compassion-Focused Therapy, you will learn to forgive yourself for what you did not know and learn more caring ways to talk to yourself. I use all of the above treatment methods with an awareness of systemic oppression (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, colonialism, poverty) while highlighting your strengths and resources.
