What does a first session with you look like?

I will typically give clients a small amount of homework or work to do in their lives or within their selves. I hope to guide clients to a deeper understanding of their selves, their struggles, and always with the goal of improving the quality of each and every person's life through small successes. I like the client to guide the sessions with what is most important to them. I am always open to feedback if something has or is helping or if it is not. I truly believe that genuine and authentic communication between a therapist and a client is where the real work happens. Therapy is not always easy in my experience when done right, although I strive to make it as comfortable and natural as possible...but it is valuable and can be life changing if we work together and work hard!

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I utilize a lot of Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I use worksheets when I feel like it is beneficial. I will request that a client does homework from time to time to aid them in their process. I draw a lot from my experiences and trainings from throughout my career.
