In our initial visit, we'll create an environment for honest communication, determine the basis of the appointment, and begin to establish a provider-client relationship. As we begin the session, I'll gather different symptoms you've been experiencing and the length of time the symptoms have been present. As a provider, I'll use my expertise to determine whether your concerns are a life stressor, an adjustment period, or warrant diagnosis and treatment. From there, we create a treatment plan together and decide how we will move forward. With medication management and follow-up appointments, we check in to see if the medication is effective and/or requires an adjustment. With psychotherapy appointments, we learn how to navigate through stressors and create solutions to present problems.

The tools that we will utilize in our sessions include motivational interviewing, open-ended questions and identifying patterns. As a provider, I will educate patients, prescribe medication, determine the efficacy of prescribed medication, offer psychotherapy, refer for further psychological testing, and refer for more extensive therapy.
