What does a first session with you look like?
It's normal to be nervous, and cautious in the beginning. During your first session, I'll get some information and we can set goals you would like to achieve. Each week, we will discuss coping strategies and skills to reach those goals. We will look at your progress, and discuss successes you make, as well as explore challenges.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Wondering how treatment will help? Our behavior is a result of our thoughts and feelings. The strategy we will use in sessions is identifying the beliefs which drive thoughts, which then create feelings we express as behavior. Behavior ultimately results in consequences - yes, some negative, but there are positive consequences, too. An example of a positive consequence is that exercising can improve our physical health. With that in mind, understanding our thoughts (and changing negative thought patterns), helps us better manage our feelings therefore our behavior.
