In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I have had many clients state, after their first session was over, that they knew I understood what they are going through just by looking in my eyes. Yes, I have walked through many hard times that are similar to those who come in my office. And it is because I have walked out of those darker times, that I know the way to help others out of their own unique situation. The path will look different as well as the outcome, but know that what you have been through is not the end of the story for you. We will heal and write new chapters that you can thrive in and find the joy in life again.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I maintain a healthy sense of humor to navigate the tough areas most people place walls around. I engage to give the client a new perspective to an issue that they never considered could be turned around. Perspective is key to most moments where we overcome the mountain in front of us. Changing the way the client sees a problem is often the key strategy that was needed to walk in the change the client desires.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
I would say everyone has some hesitation about stepping into therapy. Often, we believe the therapist will think poorly of us or not see our point of view, especially if others have believed we were the problem. You are contributing to the relationship in therapy, and it is my job to help you feel safe, supported, heard, understood, and valued. It can be a challenge for most of us to find that level of stable foundation with people in general, but your journey in therapy is designed to teach you how to have healthy relationships and change how you interact and how you receive your needs being met. There is no shame and condemnation in my sessions. No matter what you have been through or what decisions led you to where, I will help you navigate to reach your goals for your life.

Work History
I began my career working with at-risk children and adolescents who were skipping school and engaging in high levels of dangerous behaviors in and out of the home. I worked in a variety of environments from the child's school to their home with the goal to help them through the issues that were leading to their behaviors and bringing the family resources back to the forefront as a strength of support. I worked in mental health agencies where I found success with those that were deemed "lost causes", but was able to move the clients towards a future they could be proud of, as well as, successful at. I have now been in private practice solely for the last 12 years where I have enjoyed working with people of all walks of life and the challenges they face to find their way out of what holds them back.
