How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
The process is collaborative based on what is causing distress. The goals are created to reduce psychological distress,
What does a first session with you look like?
In the first session, I try to provide a warm environment so we can talk about what has brought a person into therapy. I try to provide support and then focus on how we might move forward. I like to do some goal setting, and it is very important to me that the person feels comfortable.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is to meet somewhere where they are. I am very big on self determination so I try to cater my interventions according to each person's unique needs.

Work History
I have worked in a Crisis Stabilization Unit where I encountered people from all walks of life who were experiencing difficulty because of family, job, and housing problems. It taught me not to judge and that we are all equal. It made me want to be a therapist so I could meet people where they are and work together on solving problems. I spent almost five years with the geriatric population using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to alleviate the stresses of health and aging. I am now working with families of adults with developmental disabilities with looking for strengths and with caregiver burden.
