What does a first session with you look like?

I provide a safe space to help my clients recognize ways in which their attempts to suppress, manage and control emotional experiences create suffering. By recognizing and addressing these patterns, we all can start living vibrantly and in more alignment with our purpose. In therapy, we will aim to identify who and what matters most to you and then get curious about the patterns we see arising (both internal and external) that guide you toward or away from what you define as a meaningful life. This approach utilizes a neuroscience informed understanding of the mind, mindfulness practices, compassionate acceptance building and committed action to make the changes you want to see in your life.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy is focused and spacious. Your time and money are valuable; I do my best to make the most of them. I use assessment tools like the GAD7 and the PHQ9 to track progress over time. This satisfices insurance companies and also helps us gauge objectively the progress of our work together. As a therapist, I am flexible in the type of treatments, skills and techniques I use as I believe each client is different and will benefit more from a personalized approach. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Strengths-Based, Mindfulness Based practices like Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and the application of Buddhist Psychology.
