What does a first session with you look like?
The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I believe that emotional support is important for wellness, so let me and my dogs assist and support you through life's troubles.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
Megen is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who primarily works with the adult population. She is certified to treat a wide range of disorders including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, anger/irritability, and sleep disturbances. Megen's primary role will be prescribing medications, though she believes in using the least amount of medications at the lowest effective dose to achieve and maintain stability. Personalized and quality care is her goal. Megen will provide you with guidance, support, and education through your wellness journey. Megen completed her Master's degree at Walden University. This course provided Megen with the knowledge of nuances within psychiatric pharmacology, correctly identifying and treating a multitude of disorders, and implementing multifaceted therapy techniques- such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and a person-centered approach to treatment. Life is not easy and sometimes we just need a little extra support. Megen, along with her certified therapy dog, is ready to help you feel like YOU again. Megen is a great listener and enjoys helping others feel their best. If this is something you are looking for, feel free to schedule an appointment at any time.
