What does a first session with you look like?
I hope clients leave a session feeling like they learned something new about themselves. A comfort that comes from either a deeper understanding of what is bothering them or from learning a coping skill that will make their lives easier on a daily basis.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
We talk. We talk about what brought them to my office and how it is effecting them daily. We talk about where these issues started and about different ways of handling these issues. I could talk a certain bout the different modalities I use but that rarely makes a difference during a session. I will also use a whiteboard to visually illustrate certain points. But mostly, we talk.
