What does a first session with you look like?
You can expect to learn healthy ways to cope with underlying issues without using alcohol or drugs. Let’s work together to find alternate ways to deal with your urges and cravings to use alcohol or drugs. Let me help you to find ways to address your triggers and learn positive ways to structure your time. We will work together to focus on solutions!
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I use cognitive behavioral therapy to address problematic substance use. We will work together to identify thoughts (“I need a drink or drugs to help me with my anxiety”) that lead to alcohol or drug use. We will learn ways to challenge and reframe those thoughts so that they don’t lead to problematic substance use.
