What does a first session with you look like?
Though the initial session is primarily for gathering information regarding what brought you to therapy, I like to make my clients feel accepted and welcomed and make every effort for the experience to feel as though you are speaking casually with someone. I use humor frequently when appropriate and will occasionally share when I have had similar experiences to what you state to help feel accepted and validated.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I frequently used Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy in assessing and helping clients with their day-to-day issues. I also will use Solution Focused Brief Therapy occasionally.
