What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a second generation woman of color, I understand the complexity of establishing independence and self confidence while maintaining close ties with family.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Nina Brantley is a Licensed Associate Counselor with over 2 years of experience working in the mental health field. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and family dynamics. Nina is passionate about encouraging and validating her clients on their journey to self-discovery while identifying and maintaining healthy boundaries. Nina specializes in anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, establishing boundaries, and self-esteem issues. Nina completed her Master's in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from William Paterson University. She has a Bachelor's in Psychology and Anthropology and is dedicated to inclusivity. She grew up in a tight-knit family and is an active member in the community she was born and raised in. Nina knows the struggle of establishing independence while maintaining strong familial and community ties. These factors, coupled with professional experience, allow her to really listen to and validate her client's unique experiences. Nina considers herself an eclectic therapist, using approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy. Life is not always easy, and it can be hard to have confidence in our choices when every decision matters so much. Allow Nina to support you on your journey, by asking important questions, validating your feelings, pointing out important patterns, and providing tools to cope. If you are ready to commit to yourself, schedule an appointment with Nina today!
