What does a first session with you look like?
I take a client-center approach as I accompany clients on their healing journey. I understand how difficulty it can be so I meet my clients were they are while challenging them to make the positive changes necessary for healing. The goal is to reach a level of well-being and self-knowledge that will allow independence and maintenance beyond the therapeutic environment.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I view therapy through a trauma focused lens, asking "what happened to bring you here" rather than, "what is wrong with you". In accompanying clients on their healing journey I utilize client centered therapy, mindfulness based CBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused therapy, and Progressive Counting (a newer trauma therapy). I will also be fully trained in EMDR by the end of 2023.
