You can expect to be respected and not judged. I will create a safe space where you can feel comfortable to express your feelings openly and honestly. At the end of our intake session, we will discuss goals and plans for treatment. You can expect to take away new skills in mindfulness, regulation of emotions, and distress tolerance from our sessions. We will create a plan to focus on skills that are going to be the most useful and have the most positive impact on your life and treatment will be tailored to your needs.
I use tools and techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Generally, these tools consist of ways to shift our perspective on our thoughts and feelings, edit the stories we tell ourselves and cope with times of pain and suffering. I also educate and coach client on ways to communicate these feeling more effectively to our loved ones and create healthy boundaries.
