What does a first session with you look like?
After our first session I will meet you where you are and move at your pace for therapy. We will work together to establish a trusting rapport and relationship. I will assist you in identifying triggers and how your responses through thoughts and behaviors can change. Together we will establish a plan on how to change those responses when we cannot control the triggers. This will take time and effort but you can get to a better place!
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I enjoy utilizing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and mindfulness, this uses evidence-based practice to drive the outline of sessions. CBT helps us to see how our thoughts and behaviors work for or against each other. Mindfulness works well with the CBT approach as you practice being in the moment and acknowledging your thoughts and behaviors. I am always learning and taking trainings to ensure the most up to date and practical approaches.
