What does a first session with you look like?

I am 71 (+) years now. Change, challenge, and loss accompany us through life, which has endowed me with wide-ranging perspectives, experiences, and knowledge about medications and the human condition. My life experience and knowledge support my capability to empathize and provide treatment. Together, we will participate in initial and follow-up mental health evaluation and discuss your goals and outcomes. Your plan of care will include medications prescribed for your symptoms and diagnosed mental health disorders working in concert together. There are always tradeoffs and patient preferences need to be considered. In addition, a best practice approach will be utilized regarding treatment including medications, lifestyle changes, and if required, psychotherapy. This is a team effort

What is your style/approach to therapy?

Symptoms are the specific emotions and distress you experience that may vary with each disorder. Mental health screening questions and testing may confirm specific symptoms associated with specific disorders. Best treatment practice is used as a starting place for prescribing medications; specific medications are safer to start than others. Therapy may be recommended to improve coping, attitudes, and beliefs. This is a repetitive process. Evaluate treatment; are you better or worse, do we need to change meds, add meds, or add counseling? If you are suicidal, it will be recommended that significant others monitor you or you may require inpatient treatment to be supervised and safe. Nutrition, relationship, recreation, and exercise are important therapies for mental health of treatment.
