What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a 1.5-generation African American woman, I deeply understand and appreciate the intersectionalities of identity and how our varied cultural experiences impact work, life, and love.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Bola is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. She has an affinity for working with children, families, and couples. She has many years of experience helping families navigate the challenges of parenting children with mental health challenges, co-parenting in divorce, and other stages of life hurdles. Bola completed her Master of Marriage & Family Therapy/Counseling at Capella University. She is a former military spouse, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and an aunt with ample experience navigating the stressors and joys of military and everyday life. This, along with her professional experience, enables her to provide a listening ear, guidance, and support to her clients. Bola utilizes multiple treatment approaches including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy. Navigating life can be confusing, overwhelming, and sometimes lonely, but you do not have to do it alone. Bola believes part of our responsibilities on earth is to support others as they navigate this beautiful and sometimes difficult journey we call life. She is here to partner with you in cultivating your strengths, exploring your growth points, and harnessing what makes you unique to move towards building a better tomorrow. If this sounds like a journey you are ready to embark on, schedule an appointment to start the rewarding process of self-discovery.
