What does a first session with you look like?

Clients can expect to gain a better understanding of themselves and their emotions, as well as develop the skills and strategies necessary to manage their symptoms and improve their mental health. Through therapy sessions, clients will learn techniques for coping with stress and anxiety, regulating their emotions, improving communication and relationships, and identifying unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to their struggles. Clients will also have a safe and non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts and feelings and work towards building greater self-awareness and self-compassion. Overall, the goal of therapy is to empower clients to take charge of their mental health and well-being and to develop the skills and resilience needed to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

As a licensed mental health therapist, I utilize a variety of evidence-based treatment methods and tools in my therapy sessions. Some of the approaches I frequently use include: Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT is a highly effective form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Through CBT, clients learn to challenge negative thoughts, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve their overall mood. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): DBT is a form of therapy that teaches clients skills for regulating their emotions, improving interpersonal relationships, and reducing self-destructive behaviors. DBT emphasizes the importance of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Mindfulness techniques: Mindfulness is a technique that involves bringing one's attention to the present moment, without judgment or distraction. Mindfulness techniques can help clients reduce stress and anxiety, improve their mood, and increase their overall sense of well-being. In addition to these methods, I also incorporate other tools and techniques into therapy sessions based on each client's unique needs and experiences. These might include journaling exercises, relaxation techniques, and positive affirmations.
