What does a first session with you look like?

I am a seasoned therapist with over twenty-five years of experience. There is nothing now that I need supervision or consultation for. In fact, I am the one who gives it today. I am a Certified Group Therapist (CGP), and I currently have three ongoing groups running at this time. I encourage all my clients to join a group, it is a higher level of psychotherapy and an opportunity to see how you relate with others.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I use a method called I.S.T.D.P. (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). I look at all the ways you defend against your feelings and all the symptoms you create by ignoring your feelings (GI problems, dry mouth, dizzy brain), which are all manifestations of not feeling your feelings - "once you feel, you can deal." I use flip charts and draw diagrams to help you understand the process you are in. There are no secrets in psychotherapy - "what you see is what you get."
