What is your style/approach to therapy?

I have a variety of 'tools' in my toolbox! I like to use Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-focused therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps a lot of patients understand the beliefs they might have that create depression, or anxiety. IF an individual has PTSD, I have been trained with EMDR (using Eye Movements to help process PTSD thoughts), and that can be a way to alleviate intrusive thoughts.

What does a first session with you look like?

The first session is a way for both of us to get to know each other a little better. I might ask a few questions about your background, and what distress you might be experiencing that brought you to GROW therapy. In the following sessions, I like to use the 'gold standard' of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to isolate some of the 'irrational beliefs' a person might have, and see how we might modify these thoughts.
