What does a first session with you look like?

A first session often involves getting to better know who you are and what is important to you. Together we uncover the skills, knowledge, and capabilities that have carried you to where you are. After this, we will explore the effects that problems have had on your relationships and activities so that we can discover what critical steps or understanding will best serve your hopes and preferences for your life. Common pieces of feedback that people give me are: "Wow, I didn't expect to talk about this today." "This has helped me to look at this situation in a whole different way." "Talking to you has really helped us recognize what is important in our relationship and how we can support each other."

What is your style/approach to therapy?

-Experiential methods involve generating and being present for an experience of yourself or your relationships. Through involved experience and a method of asking questions to reflect on these experiences we will have a greater knowledge of ourselves. -Somatic methods involve the use of sensation, touch, prayer, meditation, and sounds to activate and release trauma or anxiety that have been hanging around unwanted. Questions asked in this context serve to acquaint us with the meaning that our body carries so that we can put it to words and establish effective communication with our body. -Relational methods involve use of questions and relationships to shape our lives around what our preferences are for our life practices and relationships.
