What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. Everyone is searching for meaning and purpose in the midst of life circumstances, and it would be my privilege to journey with you in your search.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Peggy Hurst is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience as a School Counselor and several years in private practice. She enjoys working with teenagers as well as adult individuals and couples to improve self-growth, relationships, and positive movement toward life goals. As a Christian counselor, spiritual integration is infused in Peggy s therapy style, along with mindfulness, gratitude, and resources for healthy living. Cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, EMDR, emotional freedom techniques, motivational interviewing, and acceptance & commitment therapy are a few of her favorite interventions. Peggy s passion has always been to help others. She believes that people are body, soul (mind/emotions), and spirit, each aspect part of the larger whole. Helping clients set treatment goals and then make progress towards those goals is Peggy s forte. Her primary focus is to help people overcome internal barriers to growth and empower them to pursue goals.
