The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a survior of several operations and medical concerns, I understand the need and unqiue challenge that unforeseen circumstances can have on our lives, and the importance of getting through them.

Raphael Alfaro is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT) with over 6 years of experience in the mental health and substance use field. He is passionate about wanting to help adults and couples address the challenges that they face on a daily basis to help them live a more balanced and fulfilled life. Raphael specializes in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use concerns, self-esteem, schizophrenia, and other major life transitions. Raphael completed his Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Delaware Valley University. The unique challenges he has faced in his life have only advanced his ability to connect with clients, which creates a warm and welcoming rapport. He has empathy and offers support while creating unique treatment plans for each individual's needs. Raphael uses a person-centered approach in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. He also crafts the skills that he uses to each person's individual needs and preferences. Raphael is enthusiastic about supporting his clients in their short-term and long-term goals. He has a lot to offer in terms of psychoeducation, coping skills, mindfulness, motivation, and insight.
